Camp Thunderbird Scholarship
Continuing Ryan's Legacy
Honoring Ryan's memory by providing children the opportunity to experience the joy, friendship, and growth that camp offers.
Where Magic Happens
Camp Thunderbird has been creating unforgettable summer experiences for children since 1936, nestled in the beautiful Lake Wylie area near Charlotte, NC.

Ryan's Connection
Ryan spent his summers as a counselor at Camp Thunderbird, where he had the opportunity to mentor children and provide them the encouragement and support they may have lacked outside of camp.
His genuine care and compassion for others made him a beloved figure among campers and staff alike. Ryan understood the transformative power of the camp experience - the friendships formed, the confidence built, and the memories that last a lifetime.
Through the Ryan Payne Memorial Scholarship, we ensure that more children can experience the same joy and growth that meant so much to Ryan.
